Cultural Events
The Philadelphia area and its surrounding suburbs is packed with opportunities to participate in local cultural events, whether it’s the Philadelphia Chinese Lantern Festival or the Subaru Cherry Blossom Festival. Here’s your chance to meet up and join in on the fun!
Hangouts & Social Events
Above all, The Speakeasy is a social space - meaning we are here to make friends. There’s plenty of opportunities to meet fellow language learners over karaoke, hotpot, picnics and more!
Languages We Offer
-
One of the most popular foreign languages to learn in the US, Japanese benefits from tons of sources for practice - anime, manga, J-pop, you name it! Though the grammar and writing systems can be a steep learning curve for beginners, once you get the hang of it you’ll be able to pick up quickly on common expressions used in popular media, and even hold conversations of your own!
-
Mandarin Chinese, the official language of mainland China, is growing in popularity among American language learners. Though many are intimidated by Chinese characters, pronunciation, and tones, you’ll be pleasantly surprised by how intuitive it is if you are a native English speaker. You’ll be able to converse with the Mandarin-speakers in your life sooner than you think!
